The expressive brick facade characterizes the firm architecture of the monolithic office building. The M8 - Work & Create is located in the east of Munich on the edge of the vibrant Werksviertel. Due to its location in the second row to Friedenstraße and the uniform postmodern architecture in the immediate vicinity, the new building was to be an expressive focal point.

The goal was to design a sophisticated and maximally flexible office building that could accommodate a single user as well as several different users. Flexibility of use, timeless aesthetics and the latest technical findings are the basis for a long life cycle of the building. The main focus was on the balance between economic and ecological sustainability.
Urban Design
The cubature of the building with side lengths of 76 m x 46 m makes optimal use of the plot. The historicizing facade deliberately borrows from the industrial architecture of the 19th century. The architecture spans from the industrial building to the Kontorhaus and into modern times.
The careful proportioning and fine structuring of the façade lend the building an austere lightness. 44 round arches frame the first floor and second floor and harmonize with the horizontal emphasis of the regular floors. The design with red-brown bricks and large window areas reinterprets traditional clinker brick facades.
Interior Design
Finely designed pilaster strips in each axis emphasize the elegant appearance. To the outside, the building appears closed and introverted, but a completely new world opens up behind the arches. The two-story foyer with café bar in the interior is spatially defining and takes up almost the entire width of the building. An imposing staircase leads to a landscaped inner courtyard.
Exposed concrete and black steel determine the materiality to set a minimalist contrast to the facade. Various lounge areas and a barista bar act as a center for visitors and tenants. The foyer and the courtyard garden provide space for all users and assume an important distribution function in the building.
Open space concept
As a special addition, there is a spectacular 10 m high and 31 m long slide from the fourth floor into the courtyard. The roof can be used entirely as a roof garden. Intensive greening and separate outdoor kitchens for each user ensure exceptional quality of stay including a mountain panorama.
